Axel tilted his head; the tube grazed right past the crack and smashed through a hanging cable behind him. Blue-white arcs jumped across the deck. He slid a step sideways, combat boot pinning a rolling length of pipe — the pipe tipped up under his weight and blocked the exact line the zombie would slide into on landing. It hit the pipe and wobbled. (¬_¬) [ENOUGH.] He didn't draw a weapon. He only raised his right hand and flicked his fingers. The shockwave split the curtain of rain. The zombie burst into pink-blue digital smoke. Glowing nuts, a wear-resistant pulley, and a small metal joint scattered and rolled. One nut was rolling for the storm drain; Axel bent and caught it between two fingers before it hit the water. (¯▽¯) [LOOT: 2 NUTS / 1 WHEEL] In the bed of a wrecked pickup behind him, a rain-sogged cardboard box lifted at one corner and slumped again. Written crooked on its side: MYSTERY PET.
