Bad idea. Fire ripped through her ribs. Blood filled her mouth, hot and metallic. Her right hand slipped across the polished floor and left a red smear beside the detonator. “Seren!” Ian Mercer pushed through the crowd. He wore a dark suit, no tie, and the same calm face he used whenever politicians lied in front of cameras. Only his eyes gave him away. They were wide now. Fixed on the gun in her left hand. The gun.
