Around us, the other gamblers had already cleared out, leaving only the wreckage of a high-stakes night: overturned chairs, empty whiskey glasses, and a mountain of chips that didn't belong to me anymore. "I told you," I breathed, trying not to flinch. "The house took it. I'm tapped out. We're both tapped out." "Liar!" Leo screamed, his finger twitching on the trigger.
