The medic doesn't look at my face when he pulls the chain out. Just jams a syringe into my shoulder, wraps it tight, and shoves me toward the hall. "Move. Next match starts in twenty."
I'm still bleeding through the gauze. The crowd's still chanting my name somewhere above us, stomping hard enough that dust falls from the ceiling. My shoulder's on fire. My sister's gone.
Kade catches me before I hit the wall. "Slow down."
"They took her." My voice comes out flat. Wrong. "Black van. Two guys. I saw—"
"I know." He's got his hand under my good elbow, steering me past a knot of crew hauling cable. "Cameras caught it. Sloane's people are already tracking the plates."
Sloane's people. Not mine. I don't have people.
"Why would they—" I start, but Kade cuts me off.
"Because you won." He pushes open a door I didn't know existed, and suddenly we're in a stairwell that smells like rust and old smoke. "You weren't supposed to win, Mara. You were supposed to get killed or maimed enough that they could write you off as a bad investment. Now you're worth something.
