The titan's right arm came down like a falling tower. Seraphina slipped under it, but the edge of the armored fist clipped her side. The tether flared. Raven felt the impact in his own ribs. He slammed into a stone wall twenty feet away.
Pain tore through his chest.
Seraphina stumbled but stayed upright.

"I felt that."
"Then stop standing there!"
"I was enjoying the view."

She drove her sword into the gap behind Judicator's knee and twisted. The blade jammed between two plates. Steam burst around her arm.

Black fire crawled over his forearms.
It did not burn like normal flame. It pulled. Every nearby spark, every smear of smoke, every dark stain in the cracked stones leaned toward him. The ash gathered around his hands and formed hooked claws.
Seraphina yanked her sword free and rolled beneath Judicator's swinging arm.
"What did you do?" she demanded.
"Something stupid."
