Ashen Bond: The Condemned and The Holy Blade

Chapter 42 · And now you want me to trust the man who put six bodies in a chapel?

"And now you want me to trust the man who put six bodies in a chapel?"

"No. I want you to trust the man keeping you alive."

The creature rushed them again.

Seraphina shoved Raven aside and met it head-on.

Her sword struck the first arm. Raven caught the second blade on his own. Their weapons locked with the abomination's glowing limbs, sparks snapping across their faces.

The monster leaned down.

The golden mask was inches from Seraphina's face.

"You carry the blood of the traitor," it whispered.

Her expression froze.

Raven saw it. The tiny pause. The breath she swallowed.

"What traitor?" he asked.

"Don't."

"It knows something about you."

"Raven."

"Who was the traitor?"

The abomination drove both of them backward.

Seraphina's boots slipped near the edge of the platform. Raven caught the back of her armor and dragged her away from the drop.

"You can interrogate me after we survive," she snapped.

"That sounds like a promise."

"It is a threat."

"I like those better."

She cut upward.

The sword opened a glowing line across the monster's mask. White fire burst through it.
