Chapter 7 · Wanted: Rona Kash

My name is in the ledger.

Not just in it. Circled. Red ink, three loops, like someone wanted to make sure nobody missed it. Rona Kash, right there between two execution dates and a column labeled DEBT PAID.

The blood on the wall is still wet. DON'T TRUST GRIMM. YOUR NAME IS IN THE LEDGER.

I can hear boots. Multiple pairs. Coming from the direction I just came from.

I run.

The platform is a stripped shell. No cover. Just rust and old cable spools and broken lights that flicker every time my boots hit metal. I need to get back to the main transit line. I need to find Dax. He took pictures of the ledger on his comm. If the clan finds me first they'll say I'm compromised, say I went rogue, say whatever they need to say to put me down quiet.

I round a corner and nearly trip over a fuel drum. Catch myself on the wall. My comm buzzes.

It's clan frequency. I shouldn't answer but I do anyway.

"—confirm visual on the Kash girl. Section Twelve, lower platform. She's moving east."

My stomach drops.

They're not looking for Ghost anymore. They're looking for me.
