BONDED TO THE SAVAGE KING

Chapter 11 · Echoes of Betrayal

"Tell me what it is," Kane growled. His voice vibrated right against my collarbone. "Tell me why your blood does this to me, or I'll rip the truth out of your skin."

He had me pinned. The cold stone of the bedroom wall bit into my shoulders, but the heat coming off him was worse. He was too close. I could smell the metallic tang of blood and scorched earth—the scent of a predator who hadn't eaten in days. His hand clamped my wrist above my head, the pressure just short of bruising.

"I don't know!" I screamed, twisting my arm. "I swear to God, Kane, I have no idea what Silas told you!"

He didn't flinch. He leaned in, his chest crushing mine, knocking the air out of my lungs. I could feel his heart—fast, erratic, like a trapped animal. His eyes weren't gold anymore. They were bleeding into a dark, hungry crimson.

"You're lying," he whispered, his lips grazing my ear. "You're a little liar with a dangerous gift. You think I don't feel it? The way the noise in my head stops the second you touch me?"

I stopped struggling. My breath came in shallow, jagged hitches.
