BONDED TO THE SAVAGE KING

Chapter 31 · The Betrayal Chip

"You really think he cares about you?"

Silas’s voice was oily, dripping with fake sympathy. He didn't move, just stood there scanning the room like he was appraising a piece of furniture he planned to flip for a profit.

I backed away, heels clicking sharp against the cold stone. My heart hammered. I could still feel Kane’s blood on my hands. It wouldn't fade.

"Get out, Silas. Now."

"Oh, come on, Elara. Look at you. You’re shaking." He smirked, tilting his head. "You’re not a guest here. You’re not even a prisoner. You’re a battery. A very expensive, very rare blood-battery that keeps the Savage King from ripping everyone’s throat out."

A cold spike of dread hit my stomach. "What?"

"The 'worthless' blood you’ve been whining about your whole life?" Silas stepped forward, dropping his voice to a conspiratorial whisper. "Turns out it’s the only thing in this city that can mute the curse. That’s why I gave you to him. Not because I hate you—though I do—but because you’re the perfect bait."

I wanted to scream.
