Bound by the Blood Moon

Chapter 33 · Behind the Moon Door

The thing that stepped through the moon door had too many teeth.

Lena didn't have time to count them. She was already moving, pulling Kade sideways as claws raked the air where his head had been a second ago. The bond flared hot in her chest. She could feel his heartbeat matching hers, feel the silver burning out of his blood as her own life force poured in to replace it.

"Move!" Kade's hand locked around her wrist and yanked her back. The creature lunged past them, all ten feet of muscle and wrong angles, and slammed into the stone wall hard enough to crack it.

More red light spilled from the moon door behind it. More shapes pressed against the rift, clawing to get through.

"How do we close it?" Lena's voice came out steadier than she felt. The bond hummed between them, a live wire of shared adrenaline.

Kade's eyes were on the door. "We don't. Not from this side."

"Then what—"

"We go through."

She stared at him. "You're insane."

"Theron went through. He's the one who opened it. He's the anchor.
