Chapter 8 · Blood Moon Files
I'm still holding the knife when the door slams open.
Theron walks in like he owns the place. Maybe he does. The broker goes pale and backs into the corner, hands up like Theron's the one with the blade.
"You found Marrow's shop." Theron's eyes slide from me to Kade. "Cute. Thought you'd sneak around pack law and buy your way out?"
Kade steps in front of me. Not subtle. Not asking.
"This doesn't concern you," he says.
Theron laughs. It's not a nice sound.
"Doesn't concern me? You bit a human. You hid the bond marker. You've been running her around the city like some kind of tragic Romeo act." He tilts his head. "And now you're going to bleed out in a back-alley ritual shop so she can walk away free?"
I tighten my grip on the knife. My hand's still bleeding from where I cut it open. The broker said we needed my blood to start the reversal. Kade's to finish it.
Finish him, more like.
"It's her choice," Kade says. His voice is calm. Too calm. Like he's already decided how this ends.
"Sure." Theron pulls something out of his coat. A folder.
