Chapter 27 · The Perfect Trap
"Get your hands off me!" Nora hissed, her voice cracking as she shoved Sera back against the cold marble pillar.
Sera didn't budge. She just smirked, her eyes scanning the glittering ballroom around them. The high society of Solis was swirling in gold and white, oblivious to the fact that their golden girl was currently shaking with a rage that looked a lot like panic.
"What's the matter, Nora?" Sera whispered, leaning in so close their shoulders brushed. "A little too much shadow leaking through the cracks? You're practically vibrating. It's almost a shame to ruin the party, but I think the guests would love to see the 'Saint of Solis' turn into a void."
Nora's fingers dug into Sera's wrists, her grip bruising. "You think you're so smart. You think you've got me trapped."
"I don't think, I know," Sera replied. She didn't even try to pull away. Instead, she tilted her head, her gaze dropping to Nora's lips for a fraction of a second before snapping back to her eyes. "I've got the logs. I've got the footage. One click, and your little empire of lies becomes a crater."
Nora let out a sharp, jagged laugh.
