Chapter 18 · The Building
"You don't get to walk away from me twice."
Ethan's voice hit before his hand did, catching my wrist as I turned for the clinic door. I yanked back so hard my shoulder popped.
"Let go."
"Not until you tell me why Vale's name is on my father's shipping manifest." His jaw worked. Same jaw that told a whole room I wasn't Luna material. Same mouth that used the word *medic* like an insult. "You think I don't know what he's doing? Buying up the port so he can buy you back?"
"Nobody's buying me, Ethan. Get out of my building."
"Your building." He laughed, short and ugly. "It's got my pack's name on the lease, sweetheart."
"Not for long." I shoved past him into the hallway, and that's when I heard the elevator.
Cassian didn't knock. He never knocked. He came off the elevator with his jacket still buttoned and his eyes already locked on Ethan's hand, which was still too close to my arm.
"Move it," Cassian said. Not loud.
