"That's not my signature." I dropped the envelope on the reception counter like it had teeth. "Whose name did you put on this account?"

Joy peered over my shoulder, coffee halfway to her mouth. "Sloane, that's a cashier's check. That's a lot of zeroes."

"I can count." I flipped it face up so she could see the payee line. Hart Clinic. Not Vale Holdings. Not some shell company with a number instead of a name. Hart Clinic, printed clean, like it had always been mine to spell.

The bell over the door rang before I could shove it back in the envelope.

Ethan walked in like he still had a key. He didn't. "Sloane. We need to talk about the intake schedule."

"We don't need anything." I didn't look up from the check. "You rejected me on a warehouse floor in front of the whole pack, Ethan. We're not colleagues. We're not friends. Get out of my clinic."

"It's still pack property—"

"It's my name on the deed now.
