Chapter 33 · Moonclaim - Chapter 33: Bring Her Back

The howls started before I made it to the stairwell.

Three blocks east. Maybe four. Hard to tell when you're running and your heartbeat's louder than your footsteps. The upload went through. Every wolf in the city heard the same thing. Bring Ivy.

I shoved through the emergency exit and took the stairs two at a time. My phone buzzed. Unknown number. I nearly threw it.

"Don't hang up." Rena's voice. Clipped. Fast. "How far are you from the old rail yard?"

"Why the hell would I tell you that?"

"Because you've got maybe four minutes before the nearest pack cuts you off, and I'm the only person in this city who can get you to Leon before he loses what's left of his mind."

I hit the ground floor and kicked the door open. Cold air slapped my face. The street was empty. Too empty.

"He told every wolf to bring me," I said. "You included."

"I know what he told us." Her breath hitched. "I also know what happens when a bonded alpha bleeds into a mark and the other half runs. You want him back, or you want him to tear this city apart looking for you?"
