"Brother."

The vampire blocking the tunnel exit wore Adrian's face.

Lynn's fingers closed around her knife. Same jaw. Same gray eyes. Same arrogant stance. But the smile stretched too wide, showing the edge of a fang.

"You didn't tell your little hunter about me?" the stranger asked.

Adrian caught Lynn's wrist. His palm was cold, his grip hard enough to bruise. "When I say run, you run."

"I'm not leaving you with—"

"That's an order."

She twisted free. "I don't take orders from vampires."

The double laughed. The sound scraped along the concrete. "I like her. You always did have a type, Adrian. Stubborn. Loud. Usually doomed."

Adrian's mouth tightened. "Rael."

"There it is." Rael took one slow step forward. His boots dragged over the grit. "You remember my name. I was starting to think the Council cut that out of you with the rest of your spine."

Brother.

Adrian had never mentioned a brother.

Lynn glanced at him. His face had gone still, but his hand kept flexing at his side. Once. Twice. A tiny crack in all that control.

"What do you want?" Adrian asked.

"The Council burned. Victor's head on a spike.
