"Kael, eyes on me! Right here!"

Jaxon's hands slammed my wrists into the med-table and pinned them there. Hard. Cold metal bit into my back and my spine bowed up off it like I was getting electrocuted.

"Get off!" I choked out. "Get off me!"

"Not until you stop trying to rip your own throat out," he snarled. His face was right over mine, breath hot, eyes locked on mine. "You hear me? You're glitching. Fight it."

I wasn't trying to rip my throat out. She was.

My left hand — my stupid chrome left hand — had my own throat in a vise. Fingers digging in. Sparks spitting from the elbow joint. And the voice in my head wasn't mine. It was mine. Same voice, different bitch.

"Let go," I hissed, but it wasn't to Jaxon.

"Make me," she said inside my skull. Clear as a comms link. Cold. Amused. "You begged for me, remember? You said you wanted to be stronger."

"I didn't beg for you!" I screamed out loud.
