Chapter 34 · Dad's Dirty Little Game
"Put the knife down, Ivy." Silas caught my wrist before the blade reached his throat.
I twisted hard. His grip tightened.
"Get your hand off me."
"You were about to stab me."
"You were about to read my message."
The knife hovered between us, its edge pressed against the black fabric of his shirt. One wrong move and I would find out how much blood the Forbidden King kept under all that control.
Silas looked at the phone on the table. Klaus's name still glowed across the screen.
I know your little game, dear daughter.
My stomach turned.
Silas took the phone with his free hand. He didn't even look away from me when he flipped it face down.
"Now," he said, "tell me why your father knows we're pretending to be enemies."
"Maybe because he's not stupid."
"That wasn't an answer."
"It was the one you got."
His jaw flexed.
I yanked my wrist again. He moved faster, catching my other arm and driving both of my hands above my head. My back hit the stone wall.
