The Abyss King's Forbidden Stitch

Chapter 55 · I told you to move

She ducked.

A black spear punched through the soldier's chest from behind and pinned him to the stone.

Sylvia stumbled backward. The spear withdrew. The soldier slid down the wall, leaving a dark streak behind him.

"I told you to move," Cassian said.

"I had him."

"You had a distraction."

"You are welcome to fight your own battles when you learn how to use a body."

"I am learning."

"Then learn faster."

The last of the soldiers crossed the broken gate.

Cassian pushed through her muscles. Sylvia felt his power surge down both arms. She fought him for control, boots digging into the wet floor.

"Not yet," she said.

"They are coming."

"I can handle three."

"There are eight."

"I can handle three at a time."

"You are bleeding."

"You are distracting me."

"You need me."

"I need you to stop grabbing my body."

One soldier rushed her.

Sylvia cut his belt, hooked his ankle, and sent him crashing into two others. A fourth swung at her head. She raised the sword, blocked the blow, and felt the shock run through her injured arm.

Pain burst white behind her eyes.

Cassian took control.

Her body twisted under the soldier's blade.
