Chapter 4: Marked in the Dark
"Not yet." His teeth stay where they are, two points against the thin skin of my gland, not cutting. Just resting there like a threat he's still deciding whether to keep.
I can't move my head without feeling it. My spine's flat to the locker door, his knee wedged between mine, my wrist caught in his grip above my head like he thinks letting go means I run. Maybe I would.
"Kane. The mic." My voice comes out wrecked, not the voice I use on the floor, not the voice I use on anybody. "Roll call channel's open. Somebody left it live."
"Let it be live."
"They'll hear you breathing on me like this."
"Good." His mouth moves against my throat when he says it, and the vibration goes straight down my spine. "Let the whole building know whose name is about to be under yours."
I shove at his chest. It doesn't move him an inch. "Get off me."
"Say it again." His hand slides from my wrist down my forearm, slow, deliberate, mapping. "Say it like you mean it and I'll stop."
My mouth said no.
