Chapter 16 · Ch16
Grand Jury The grand-jury envelope hit the conference table and Kessler, the board's borrowed lawyer, smiled at my mouth like it was a exhibit. I looked at him for one stupid second because the paper in his hand could gut the year. Luca saw the look. He ended the meeting in one sentence and walked me into the executive restroom — marble, lock, no bed, a sink that had hosted worse sins.
"You looked at him like that again," he said, boosting me onto the counter, "and I'll ruin you right here. Tell me who owns this body."
"He handed me a subpoena. I looked at paper."
"You looked like you were for sale." He shoved my skirt up and stepped between my knees, full weight pinning me to the glass.
"Say mine." I trembled. Pride wanted the lawyer's envelope. My body wanted the lock on the door.
"I won't yield in a restroom because a man smiled."
"Your mouth says no." His hand dragged my underwear aside. He swore when he felt how soaked I was.
"You're dripping for a jealous don. Look at me." He slid inside standing. The first thrust clicked my heels off the tile. Tight.
