The Don's One-Year Contract

Chapter 32 · The Pen

"Say the name, Dominic." My voice cuts through the boardroom before he can swallow it back down. "Whose account is it?"

Dominic's mouth curls. He's got that look, the one that says he already won and he's just deciding how slow to make me lose. "You really want this in front of the whole council, Nora?"

"I want it anywhere. Say it."

He glances at Luca. Luca doesn't move. Doesn't blink. His jaw's locked so tight I can see the muscle working, and that's worse than any answer, because I know that face. That's the face he makes when he's protecting something.

Or someone.

"Ask your husband," Dominic says, and slides a folder across the table like it's a dinner check. "Or better. Sign this first."

I look down. Resignation letter. CFO position, effective immediately, my signature line sitting there blank and waiting like a wound that hasn't started bleeding yet.

A pen lands on top of it. Gold cap, Voss crest engraved in the side. His own pen. Dominic's own family flourish, like he wants to watch me use it to erase myself.

"Sign, and I forget the debt ever existed," he says. "Your brother walks. You walk. Clean."
