The Iron Case Vow

Chapter 61 · That was your voice

Then Dorian's voice rolled through the line.

"Convoy Seven is carrying restricted material. Detonate the bridge span after the rear cars clear. No survivors from the tribunal wagon. Confirm when the charges are armed."

My blood turned cold.

The recording cut out in a burst of static.

Dorian didn't move.

I stared at him. "That was your voice."

"Yes."

"You said no survivors."

"I know what I said."

"You told them to blow the train."

"The file is missing the first section."

"The part where you become innocent? Convenient."

His hand closed around the edge of the case. The metal bent beneath his grip.

"Mara, listen to me."

"No. You listen." I shoved to my feet. "I put my name beside yours. I signed a contract that made me your wife in front of every officer on this line. I let them call me a traitor because you swore you could keep me alive."

"I have kept you alive."

"By locking me in your train?"

"By taking every shot meant for you."

"You don't get credit for that when you were the one who dragged me into this."

His face tightened.
