Chapter 26 · From the division
She looked at the dark camera dome.
"From the division."
"Name."
"I can't."
"Name."
"If I say it, he knows I still have access."
"He already knows."
"No, he knows I have access. He doesn't know how much."
"You're running out of reasons to keep me in the dark."
"And you're running out of time to find Leo."
The speaker emitted a soft tone.
A blue line appeared on the ground, pointing toward the old transit gate.
Mira stared at it. "He wants us to follow."
"Then we follow."
"That's a trap."
"Of course it is."
"You can't just walk into it."
"Leo is inside it."
"You don't know that."
"He said he was."
"You trust a kidnapper now?"
"I trust Leo's voice."
She caught my arm before I stepped away.
"Wait."
"Let go."
"You're angry."
"He's gone."
"And if you charge in blind, you'll be gone too. Then the boy has nobody."
"Move."
"No."
The word came out hard.
She planted herself in front of me. The gun hung at her side, forgotten for the moment. Her chest rose and fell quickly.
