Chapter 26 · Don't Forgive Them for Me

Blood's already soaking through Cade's shirt when he stumbles into the doorway.

I can smell it. Copper and wolf and something burning underneath, like the bond itself is trying to catch fire. His eyes find me across the room and I watch him try to process what he's seeing. Me. Mira. The knife I just dropped. Garrick on his knees.

And behind him, the screaming.

"Sienna." His voice cracks on my name. "What did you do."

It's not a question. He thinks I did this. He thinks I activated the ward, that I'm standing here watching his pack bleed out and I meant for it to happen.

Mira laughs.

The sound cuts through the noise outside like glass. She's still got her hand pressed to that carved symbol on the floor, blood pooling under her palm. The air around her shimmers. The ward's humming now, a low vibration I can feel in my teeth.

"She didn't do anything," Mira says. She's looking at Cade like he's already dead. "I did. But don't worry, alpha. She can stop it. If she wants to."

Cade takes a step forward and his knee buckles. He catches himself on the doorframe.
