"Take it down." Grant's voice cut across the lobby before I even reached the wall. "Now. Before the press gets here."

I didn't take it down. I stood in front of the framed rendering — the one Corazon's people had hung last week, LUNA BAY GRAND, PHASE TWO, WHITFIELD CAPITAL printed in gold under the skyline — and I peeled the corner of it back with two fingers until the old deed underneath showed through the glass. My fingers left a smudge on the frame. I didn't wipe it off.

"Careful," I said, not turning around. "That's a hundred-year-old building. Things underneath tend to matter."

Bianca laughed first, the way she always did, loud enough to turn heads at the concierge desk. Her heels clicked twice as she stepped closer, arms crossed over a blazer that cost more than my rent. "Oh my God. She's touching the art now. Somebody get security."

"Security already knows me." I still didn't look at her. "I trained half of them on the graveyard shift. Ask Marco.
