Chapter 30 · Mira's Dirty Secret

"Open it."

Mira shoves the leather folder across the table. It lands between us with a slap that echoes in the empty intel room. Her face is pale, her jaw tight, and for the first time since I met her she won't meet my eyes.

"What is it?" I don't touch it.

"Proof," she says. "That I'm the one who's been opening the gate."

My hand freezes halfway to the folder. "What?"

"Every loop." Her voice cracks. "Every single time you came through, I opened it. I let the enemy in. I fed them intel. I handed them the gate codes and told them exactly when to hit us."

I stare at her. My pulse is hammering in my ears. "You're lying."

"I wish I was." She finally looks at me, and her eyes are red-rimmed. "Open it. Read it. Then decide if you want to put a bullet in me or keep me breathing long enough to fix this."

I flip the folder open.

The first page is a handwritten log. Dates, times, gate codes. All in Mira's handwriting. The second page is a photo: Mira handing a sealed envelope to a man in enemy colors.
