Chapter 59 · The Execution Order
"Louder."
"You're the heir."
The door behind Lucas exploded inward.
He spun and fired twice. One Warden dropped before he cleared the smoke. The second came straight through it.
Lucas caught him by the throat and drove him into the wall. The panel cracked. His elbow slammed into the Warden's neck.
The man gagged.
Lucas ripped the access badge from his chest and shoved him aside.
"Keep uploading!" Lucas shouted.
Nora's fingers flew across the console. "The file's locked!"
"Then unlock it!"
"It needs the final key!"
The badge in Lucas's hand beeped.
Every screen flashed red, then white. The tower recognized his family clearance.
The upload window opened.
A new file appeared beneath the dead witness archive.
VOSS TESTIMONY—FINAL.
My chest tightened.
"That's her," Lucas said.
I looked at him. "Your sister?"
He didn't answer.

I pointed at the screen. "You wanted proof. There it is."
"Evelyn, don't—"
"You said I decide what happens to you after the signal goes up."
His face went hard. "Not here."
"No? We have Wardens breaking down the door, a locked confession, and your family’s name all over it. Seems like the perfect place."
Nora glanced over her shoulder.
