Velocity of Vice: The Villain's Vow

Chapter 15 · Forbidden Resonance

"Stop lying to me, Nova. Just for once, stop playing the victim and tell me what you're actually doing in my room."

Kael’s voice wasn't the gentle, golden-boy hum the rest of the Sanctuary loved. It was a low growl, sharp and dangerous. He had me pinned against the heavy oak desk, his palms flat on the wood on either side of my hips, trapping me in a cage of muscle and white linen.

I scoffed, tilting my chin up even though my heart was hammering against my ribs like a trapped bird. "Doing? I'm surviving, Kael. You're the one who keeps inviting the wolf into your bedroom. Don't act surprised when I start sniffing around for weaknesses."

"Weaknesses?" He leaned in, his breath hot against my cheek. The scent of ozone and expensive soap rolled off him. "You think I have any?"

"Everyone has a crack in the mask," I spat, my eyes darting to the drawer I'd just been ransacking. "Especially the Great Kael. The Saint of Light. I bet you're just dying for someone to finally see how twisted you are under all that purity."

Kael didn't flinch. Instead, he shifted, his chest brushing against mine.
