Chapter 26 · The Tracker in His Phone
"Mark."
Amy's hand caught his wrist before he could reach for the burned cabinet. Her phone screen glowed between them.
"Look. Now."
Mark leaned over it. Lucas's phone appeared on a tracking map, a red dot pulsing over the house. Lines branched from it to every device in the room.
"That's his phone," Amy said. "It's logging us. Location, time, messages, conversations. Everything."
Mark's burned hand throbbed. The cabinet still smelled like ozone and scorched wood, but the tracker was worse.
"Since when?"
"Since the second meeting. Maybe earlier."
He looked at the front door. Lucas had left ten minutes ago, claiming he had class in the morning and would check in tomorrow.
"Call him."
Amy hit redial.
Lucas answered on the first ring. "Hey. Everything okay?"
"Get back here," Amy said.
"I'm halfway to—"
"Now."
She ended the call.
Mark pulled out his own phone and sent one message to the group.
*Emergency meeting. My place. Don't ask. Just come.*
Daniel answered first. *On my way.*
Sarah followed. *Is Amy hurt?*
*Just come.*
Amy set her phone on the counter.
